CB250 – Side project for cash – Ready for sale!

Well we pulled the old swingarm off the 250 and it was pretty wrecked so we had a choice. We could cut the bent part off, buy some box steel the same size (hopefully), weld it on, machine it back so it looked factory, re-spray, re-drill the axle slots and buy a new chain adjusted, OR we could cimply buy a replacement swingarm for $100. We bought a second hand one because for $100, it just wasn’t worth our time trying to fix it…

So after buying a second hand swing-arm, refitting it to the bike. We re-fitted the chain..

we simply bolted on all the other peices and gave her a quick wash down. We ended up with this…

Now to sell it and see if we make a profit…

Stay tuned..

CB250 side project for cash

Well, if your managing to keep up at home you would have read that we sold the ZXR250 and as always, we were on the lookout for any other bikes we might be able to purchase and make some quick money on. Well, it didn’t take long and before you knew it we picked up this 1993 CB250 for $250!!! The chain had come off and absolutely let rip on the swingarm. We bought it sight unseen besides a couple of pics but we are confident we would be able to repair it. Seriously, how bad could it be??

After the LONG drive to collect it, here is how she looked when i first got it home…

Bit dirty. Before I started working on it, I decided a quick squirt with my faithful Karcher wsa in order. She came up looking a tad prettier….

OK, now that the old girl is looking a little cleaner, time to remove the rear swingarm so we can have a closer look…

Only took about 10 minutes so not that hard a job at all. But the news isnt good, the swingarm COULD be repaired but in reality, not worth our time….

These bikes are VERY common so spare part should be VERY common, so looks like we are going to try find ourselves a donor swingarm….

Stay tuned and find out how we go…..
