3 Apparently!
Well, progress has been a bit slow of late but we have been busy in the background. As we constantly trawl the classifieds for any bargains, we found an add for 2 X Kawasaki Z400’s for sale!!! The Z400’s aren’t necessarily collectable but they are getting rare so to find someone selling 2 of them for the bargain price of $900, was too good an offer to pass up. A quick phone call, some negotiations, and $700 later I arrived home with 2 more Z400’s so now we have 3 of them!! WHoohooo. GREAT result. The new (old) bikes are 1975 models where outr current Z400 is a 1976. The differences are extremely small and are basically the same bike.
Introducing the latest bikes to garagenight…
Both the latest Z400’s aren;t running but we are confident we can make at least one good bike out of the two. We started by pulling the carby down and freeing up the stuck float bowls and cleaning the jets. We then found out that we don’t have very little aspark so we will need to address that problem in the near future..
So the plan. The plan is to make a second cafe racer from these 2 latest bikes. We will pick the best parts off both bikes and make one half decent ride. The left over third bike will be parked outside the garage with a tarp over it as our ‘spares’ bike.
The second cafe racer will be similar to the first yet different. We are planning different color scheme, different bars, different exhaust system etc. So, at the end we should have two rides that perform very similar and make cruising very enjoyable.
We do however have a problem. We are already getting confused about which bike we are refering to so we have alternative but to name them. We need two names which we may even end up painting in small lettering on the tanks of each bike. This is where YOU, can have input. We ask all our readers to submit their suggestion for names for what is currently refered to as K1 and K2.
Stay tuned…..

OK. I’ll kick things off.
How about ‘Samuri’ and ‘Shogun’
It is along the lines of the Kawasaki ‘Ninja’, or the Suzuki ‘Hayabusa’. A nice looking bit of japanese kanji script on the tank would also look cool.
Well, Ive already taken the name “Shitbox” so you’ll have to think of your own! 🙂
I like CROZZ’s comment. You could also go with something totally un-Japanese too. As these are cafe racers, grab a couple of names from here:

Could be cool having some poncy French cafe names for the bikes. Here are my two pics:
– Le Fouquet’s
– Les Deux Magots
And both have some uncanny English-esque literal translations (given that I dont know French):
– The F*ck-It
– The Second Magot (deux means 2 in French)
How about ‘money-pit’ and ‘quicksand’?
Geeze Dale, that’s a bit harsh.
Maybe “Monsoon” and “Tsunami”
Or “Alpha” and “Bravo”
